About Me

Hello! My name is Jenifer Harris (Schneider) and I teach 6th grade Math and Science in the Gifted Magnet Program.  I have a strong educational background with a Bachelors Degree in Child Development from CSUN, and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Pepperdine. I started teaching in 2009, and started with LAUSD in 2014. I just switched from teaching at Elementary School this year, and so far I am loving all the students and staff here at Porter!

 

I strive to create a warm, safe, and inviting classroom for all students. If students feel heard, cared for, trusted, and safe in my classroom, the more academic risks they are willing to take. My expectations are high, but I have no doubt that my students will rise to meet them. 

 

Right now my family consists of me and my husband, and our two fur-babies, Jack and Jinx. When I am not in the classroom, you can usually find me in the gym, hiking the side of mountain in Yosemite, or with a book in my hand. 

 

I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful program.
