8th Grade Information
LAUSD and George K. Porter Middle School Culmination Policy
In accordance with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Culmination Requirement Policy, the Middle School Certificate of Completion and the participation in the culmination ceremony/activities will be determined by receiving a mark of “D” or better in the eighth grade. ALL subject areas will be considered for eligibility, including PE and electives. Students in the 8th grade can earn 5 credits for each course they pass with a grade of “D” or higher, and up to 60 credits (30 credits per semester) for the entire year. In order to be eligible to receive a Middle School Certificate of Completion and participate in the culmination ceremony, students must earn 50 credits in their 8th grade year.
