As a gifted magnet class, the literature that we read and the themes and concepts that we investigate are of a mature and advanced nature. Students will meaningfully, thoughtfully, and critically engage in the class material. Additionally, we will watch films and documentaries that relate to our literature. Per LAUSD mandate, any class viewing with a rating of "PG-13" or "R" will require parent/guardian approval. Therefore, when we watch films with these ratings, parents/guardians will be notified well in advance for approval. Please note that because this is a gifted class, our class curriculum is rigorous, challenging, and advanced; likewise, the class is designed to prepare students for advanced English courses in high school.
