Hello and welcome!
Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Tali Cutler, and I am the Magnet Coordinator at George K. Porter Middle School. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and spent 12 years teaching 8th grade science before transitioning into educational leadership. Those years in the classroom continue to shape my work as I support students, families, and teachers in creating meaningful learning experiences.
At Porter, I oversee our Gifted Magnet, Magnet for Innovative Thinking (MIT), and School for Advanced Studies (SAS). I work closely with our administration and staff to ensure these programs provide engaging, rigorous, and innovative learning opportunities where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. As the school's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Coordinator, I also oversee GATE identification and referrals, coordinate services for gifted learners, support teacher professional development, and partner with families throughout the process.
As I begin my third year at Porter, I am incredibly proud of what our school community has accomplished together. Over the past two years, we have continued to strengthen our magnet programs, expand opportunities for students, and build a school culture centered on academic excellence, innovation, and belonging. The tremendous progress our students, teachers, and families have made is a reflection of the dedication and collaboration of our entire Porter community.
The most rewarding part of my work is partnering with families to help each child thrive. I believe that when schools and families work together, students have the greatest opportunity for success. I am grateful for the trust our families place in us and for the opportunity to support them as they navigate their educational journey.
I am honored to serve the Porter community and remain committed to growing our exceptional programs, celebrating our students' achievements, and ensuring that every family feels welcomed, supported, and proud to call Porter home.
