George K. Porter Middle School, Gifted & Innovative Thinking Magnets Home

To help keep our campus safer and more secure, we will begin using a new security feature at our main entrance starting Monday, November 17, 2025. Please read the attached letter for details.

Our 6th grade Magnet for Innovative Thinking students are excited to showcase their Fall Project Based Learning presentations titled “Not Waiting on the World to Change.” Students have been exploring how individual action can inspire change in others, identifying real issues on campus, and designing meaningful solutions to improve the Porter experience.
Presentations will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Trojan Hall, the Library, and Room 14. A small group of invited parents and staff will participate as panelists, offering feedback to student teams as they share their ideas and solutions.
If you are interested in serving as a panelist, please complete the parent interest form by November 17, 2025. See flyer for details.

Parents and families are invited to join focused conversations about how technology supports student learning, creativity, and balance.
These smaller, topic-based meetings bring together parent groups, families, and
LAUSD community to share insights, experiences, and ideas that help shape the District's vision for equitable and meaningful educational technology. See flyer for meeting dates & times. Meetings are held on Zoom, see flyer for link.

Beginning Monday, November 3rd, students are required to enter their PIN to get free lunch in the cafeteria.

Students are invited to join us for free drop-in tutoring every Monday and Wednesday from 3:15–4:15 PM in the library, starting September 15, 2025. Tutoring is supported by Porter teachers and provides extra help with classwork, homework, and study skills. No sign-up required—just drop in!
