George K. Porter has been named a 2026 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education!
George K. Porter was recognized in two categories:
• Exemplary High Achievers – Schools performing among the highest in the state academically
• Achievement Gap Closers – Schools demonstrating significant progress for historically underserved student groups

Meet our principal and Porter staff as we help you get ready for a successful start to the school year. Pick up your class schedule, take your student ID picture, purchase PE uniforms, and get important information for the first day of school. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus!

6th Grade Orientation: Thursday, August 6, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
7th Grade Orientation: Friday, August 7, 2026, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
8th Grade Orientation: Friday, August 7, 2026, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Please note that orientation is also Picture Day, so students should plan to attend with their parent / guardian and be ready to take their school photo. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Students, looking for a quiet place to do your homework? Need a little help in math or English? Drop into the Porter library every Monday and Wednesday for free tutoring provided by Porter teachers. We hope to see you there!
